The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds First Impressions

Finally! A return to the old school top down Zelda games.

As this is a first impressions article it will be much shorter than an actual review.

So, A Link Between Worlds is finally out and it is fantastic. Everything from the puzzles, the return to the classic top down style of older Zelda games and the incredibly gorgeous visuals make this a great addition to the Zelda franchise.

What really makes this game stand out though is its openness. The game starts and after the introduction to the plot you are given the option to rent out all of your typical Zelda gear (hookshot, bow and arrow etc.) straight off the bat. This means that you don’t have to do anything in a specific order, giving the player the feeling of grandness. If you can figure out the puzzles and best the temples you can do anything in any order you feel fit.

Along with this are the incredibly intricate and inventive puzzles. I recently just finished the Death Mountain Temple and it involves using elevators to go from floor to floor to get keys to unlock other parts of the temple. As this is a top down game as apposed to a full 3D game this level is definitely one of the more interesting ones.

As of right now I am still playing the game, but it is fantastic and I would suggest picking it up if you have a 3DS.
